Can't sync ipod over wifi since iTunes upgrade

Hi, my iTunes (on a Windows 10 laptop) updated to 12.8.0.150 two days ago, since then I have been unable to sync my iPod over wifi, I don't even get the iPod icon appearing in iTunes. I can sync ok via cable, and there are no available updates for the iPod or iTunes (I've checked).

This same problem also happened the last couple of times iTunes updated (beginning to see a common thread there) and the solution was to connect via cable, untick the "sync via wifi" box, sync, close iTunes, restart iTunes, connect via cable, tick "sync via wifi" and sync again but that solution isn't working this time. Are there any suggestions out there, the iPod is only a few months old and by no means an out of date model? Thanks.

Hello, Gregorius123.

It's my understanding that you're no longer able to sync to iTunes using Wi-Fi. You've done an excellent troubleshooting step when it comes to Wi-Fi and I have an article that may help you with this, check it out: Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes using Wi-Fi

Get help

If you can't set iTunes to sync over Wi-Fi, or if sync doesn't work:

  1. Restart your computer and iOS device.
  2. Make sure that your computer and iOS device are on the same Wi-Fi network. Syncing doesn't work over an Ethernet to Wi-Fi connection.
  3. In your firewall settings, make sure that TCP ports 123 and 3689, and UDP ports 123 and 5353 are open. If you need help with this step, contact your computer or router manufacturer or check the instructions for your firewall or security software.
Let me know if this helps.

Cheers!
