If you have wi-fi or an ethernet router in your house you can connect them both to the same network via wi-fi or via standard ethernet cables to the router (i.e., not directly to each other). If your new one only has USB-C and you want to use ethernet: The Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Apple
If you want to use target disk mode instead, see the following: How to use target disk mode to move files to another computer - Apple Support

If both computers have Ethernet ports, any which physically plugs in. If the new one has only USB-C ports, get a USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet adapter.

The best way to do this transfer is to connect BOTH computers to Ethernet ports on your Router.
You will also need to enable File Sharing:
System Preferences > Sharing > File Sharing ...
... and specify what should be shared. (default is the Public Folder.).
