how to show 15 hidden rows in Numbers

Rows 1-16 are hidden. I need Numbers to reveal them. Help menu says I can choose to unhide them from the neighboring row. I don't have that option, only Hide or Delete. Any ideas?

Hi PC,

Row 1 cal=n be hidden only if it is not a Header Row.

If Rows 1-16 are hidden, you have two means of unhiding these rows:

Make the table active by clicking any cell in the table.

Go to the Table menu and select the option shown:

OR

Click any cell to make the table active.

Hover the mouse pointer in the space between the Row Reference tab for the unhidden row closest to the hidden rows (in this case, Row 17).

Click the wide v that appears in the space to open the contextual menu shown below.

Choose the item highlighted to unhide only the hidden set named in the menu, or the choice above it to unhide all hidden row in the table. (In this case, with only one set of hidden rows, either choice will give the same result.)

Hi Marsha,

I had assumed, since you posted your question in the Numbers for Mac community, that you were using Numbers for Mac. Numbers for iCloud is one of the iWork for iCloud applications, and questions are usually handled in the iWork for iCloud community, but often wind up here due to the difficulty in finding the door to "Numbers for iCloud" (because there isn't one with that name).

The absence of an "Unhide" choice on that contextual menu makes me think there's a filter applied to your table.

Not sure which icon contains the filter settings, but I'd start with the wrench. Sort and Filter are usually grouped pretty closely together, so it you see one, you should be on track for the other.

The controls may give you a checkbox to deactivate the filter, or a command to click to delete the filter rule.

Barry

Hi PurpleCast,

Tested in Numbers for Mac, version 5.1. I can't test in Numbers for iOS or iCloud.

Sometimes we might accidentally drag the table "off the page" into the page margin.

If Numbers 5.1 for Mac, I would click on the "bullseye" top left and drag the table down and right.

From your screen shot, I think you need to click and drag this:

Hi, Barry,

Sorry if I posted this to the wrong forum. As you noted, it is quite difficult to find the right place. I chose to use Numbers for iCloud so the file would be accessible across devices. Having worked with Excel and Google Sheets, I thought I could figure out Numbers by reading the manual and searching for answers, but trial and error has so far resulted in error.

I don't see anything under the wrench that gives me hope.

I searched support on "Numbers for iCloud unhide hidden rows" and eventually found Filter data in a table, and then I had to find the Sidebar.

User uploaded file

When I click on Filter Table, it appears that no filter has been applied; at least there is no Cancel Filters button.

User uploaded file

The instructions detail how to add a filter. At the end, it explains ho to turn off or delete a filter. However, there are no filters to turn off or delete.

Today, after having added more rows, rows 2-22 are hidden. Uh-oh, the more I add, the less I can see?

Hi PurpleCast,

(What is this square called?)

Umm... Table Handle?

In Numbers for Mac, click anywhere on a table and Format Panel > Arrange > Position

User uploaded file

X and Y are negative (the top left of the table is "off the page").

Type positive numbers and press return to move the table onto the page.

I don't know how (or if) that works in Numbers for iOS or iCloud.

Ian.
