Apple Watch 3 swollen battery

I am so disappoint4d in Apple, I sent my Apple Watch 3 to be repaired for swollen battery and they refused to fix it unless I paid 289 + tax. They see a scratch and blame it on misus. I never complain but I think they should take responsibility for the default with their Apple Watch 3 42 gps/cellular series. It’s a problem.
