6+ battery wont stay charged, but battery health is "Peak Performance"

My 6+ battery wont stay charged. I checked the Battery Health and it says it is at peak performance and maximum capacity is 92%.

I brought it to an Apple Service provider to have the battery replaced, but said it wont do much because the current battery is performing correctly and they gave me suggestions for ways to conserve battery life, but they haven't helped.

I put the serial number in the 6s battery issue claim, but of course its not a 6s, so it doesn't qualify. I do have an issue with screen closing and "twitching", but not sure what the $149 fix will do and probably wont fix my battery. My Apple series 2 watch just dies and I am lucky to have AppleCare so I have to send that in for repair, but really don't want to lose my phone for any period of time.

Any suggestions what I should do since i seem to exhausted all options....

If it won't stay charged but the battery condition is good that means you have one or more apps that are using excessive amounts of energy. It is not a battery problem, it is a battery usage problem. You will have to troubleshoot to find out which app or apps it is.

When you say it doesn't stay charged, can you give an example? Such as "I have to charge it every 4 hours" or "if I charge it overnight so it is at 100% in the morning it doesn't last until the end of the day without recharging"?

If an app uses excessive energy you can try killing it. Open it, then press HOME. Pause, then double-press HOME swipe up on the app screen image. Then press HOME again. Restart the phone (Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support) and try to use it again. If this doesn't reduce the battery consumption of the app then it is a poorly written app. Note that you will have to use the phone for at least 24 hours to see any change.

There is no reason to wait until the battery is down to 25% or any other value. You can charge the phone from any state of charge to any state of charge. See my user tip: When to charge your iPhone or iPad

Thank you!

It will charge to 100%, but after checking email or playing a game it will be down to mid 80’s.

Then I notice it jumps from 59% right down to the 30’s. I am trying to not charge it until it’s down to about 25%.

The game Yahtzee is using the most battery life per the battery health screen. Is there a way to have an app use less battery life without deleting it?

It is better to leave apps in the quick launch screen than to kill them, unless they are misbehaving. Apps that you see when you double-press HOME are not running; they are suspended at whatever they were doing when you exited them by pressing the HOME button. When you launch one again it picks up where it left off. If you kill it the next time you use it the app must reinitialize and reload into RAM. This uses more time and energy than just restarting from where it stopped. Here's an opinion from someone who should know: http://9to5mac.com/2016/03/10/should-you-quit-ios-apps-answer/

Thank you! Both your answer and article are very informative. I had always been under the impression that the battery didn't stop charging at 100% and kept sending unnecessary power to the phone. Yesterday the battery was better and today it went from 59% to 31% in maybe 10 minutes.

The battery life says another app is using more power now...

One additional question you may be able to answer...I read that it is better to keep apps open then closing them and reopening them. It sounds like that it wasting battery power. Which do you think is better. Closing and reopening, evening if every 15 minutes or half hour or just keep them open?
