Need password to reconnect with time capsule

Since a couple of months my MacBook Pro does not automatically connect with my Time Capsule anymore. Even if I store the password in the keychain, it keeps on asking me for the password if I try to connect to the Time Capsule. Pretty annoying... Does anyone have a solution for this? Both my MacBook and Time Capsule are fully updated.

Would be grateful to anyone who has discovered how to make the auto-password-authentication automation for time capsule hard drive access work!

I use the following Apple Script to 'automatically' mount my TC at login for Time Machine:

-- ***************************************************************************

-- AppleScript to detect & mount TC's HDD for Time Machine

--

-- Tesserax, Oct 2016

--

-- Revision History

-- Initial release

-- ***************************************************************************

try

mount volume "afp://<TC's Base Station Name>.local/Data" as user name "<use can enter anything here>" with password "<TC's Disk PW> "

end try

Then I would Save As this script as an Application. Finally, I would add this application as a Login Item for my user account.

I never have to re-enter the TC's password to access the Data partition for Time Machine.

Potentially, your AirPort Keychain entries may be corrupted. I would suggest that you use the Keychain Access app to locate and delete them if you haven't already to see if this resolves the issue. If not, there are a few other things we could try.

The three AirPort password Kinds that can be stored in the login and/or iCloud (if you sync the Keychain to iCloud) Keychain categories are:

  1. AirPort base station password
  2. AirPort Disk password
  3. AirPort network password

It's the last one that you will want to delete from the Keychain.

I am having the same problem. I have a 4th gen time capsule, with an external USB drive. Every time I move to access the thing in Finder, I am challenged for the device password, which I keep entering, and I keep checking the box to allow the password to be remembered in keychain. It never does. The next time I want to access the drive - same thing - manual password entry.

Not the end of the world, but the lack of automation is irritating, and not in line with the "It Just Works" mantra of Apple.

Tesserax, I am not certain why deleting the network password in keychain would help this. I did delete and recreate the device passwords in keychain, but without benefit. The network password allows your machine to auto-remember the WAN password in your environment - it should not have anything to do with disk level access on the time capsule.

Oh....I should mention that my system includes a late 2013 MBP 15", with all the latest updates and no non-Apple parts attached, the aforementioned 4th gen time capsule, and an unremarkable 1 gig USB-3 drive hooked to that time capsule.

I also have a 5th gen TC, and am having the exact same problem with it, so this isn't a time-capsule machine specific issue. This is software or firmware - whether on the time capsules or within Mac OS, I don't know.

Thank you.
