I have a grey rectangle on my desktop screen?

See if quitting the “stickies” app closes the window. If not, keep quitting other acrive apps until the window goes away or until you’re out of running apps.

I’m here assuming the Apple Remote Desktop app is not in use here, and that it was the word “desktop” that drew the posting here.
