For example if I were to search up the word apple instead of apple it would be replaced by a question mark with a box around it. Every single link, every single letter on that page is replaced with the symbol but for some reason Youtube is the only site that doesn't have all the letters replaced with symbols. Are you using Java or has Java been installed on your Mac then I suggest you try to update it:

I tried updating java and I tried everything on Carolyn's post and nothing has changed. The only part I didnt do was when she said to click safari in the top left corner click preferences and then click appearance I couldn't find apperance.
