Hello again Marchant8,

I hate to do this to you, but I would like you to try a command in the Terminal. There have been a number of similar posts recently involving "Storage" issues. This particular command is not effective against one particular problem, but it might be effective with your problem.

Run Terminal and enter the following command, and then press enter:

tmutil thinlocalsnapshots /

And let us know if you see any improvement.

Bummer.

I have another idea. I wrote a little diagnostic program to help show what might be causing these problems. Download EtreCheck from https://www.etrecheck.com, run it, and paste the results here. EtreCheck is perfectly safe to run, does not ask for your password to install, and is signed with my Apple Developer ID.

What I am looking for here is the disk space allocation on your boot drive. With APFS, your drive is shared by multiple virtual volumes. I think it is possible that one of those volumes is not what it should be. EtreCheck will show the space allocation among those volumes. There are command line tools that will do that too, but I try to avoid those whenever possible.

Disclaimer: Although EtreCheck is free to download and use at first, it will eventually ask you to buy a license. There are also other links on my site that could give me some form of compensation, financial or otherwise.

I have tried. Hence question.

I tried to add over the amount spare?

Copying from an external hard disk.

I am informed that there was not enough room.

The system was looking at the reported spare?

I have restarted.

I have repaired the hard disks which reported no issues. Still I am informed only that 45 gig spare

Leaving the 160gig still purgeable

Thanks
