MacBook Pro 2016-2018 connecting to IMAC

how to connect my 2018 MacBook Pro 15” to iMac late 2013 21” to use it as an external monitor? I’ve tried to use thunderbolt cable and adapter to usb c but it doesn’t work! iMacs monitor is blinking, turning on and off! I’ve tried several cables and adapters(all original ones) at home, at Apple store in Guangzhou, China and facing the same problem!

There is a problem with the new 2018 MacBook Pros - I have the same problem connecting my new 13" MBP to my 2012 iMac - it used to work perfectly on my 2016 MBP but now the iMac screen just flashes and goes black. Report this to Apple so they take it seriously, a bunch of other users are reporting the same issue!

Just doesn’t work! I’ve been to the Apple store! Got myself another brand new thunderbolt 2 cable and and adapter thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 2. Got home and tried to connect my iMac late 2013 for using it as an external monitor to my MacBook Pro 2018! Nothing! Still blinking, turning on and off.... So what should I do to connect them???
