How do you type the @ symbol on a MacBook Pro
So recently I was trying to sign in to my gmail but I can’t type the @ symbol yes I’ve tried shift plus 2 but it just types a exclamation point

Go to system preferences/keyboard/input sources and make sure there is only one item on the list, either US or ABC.
(PS are you sure shift 2 gives you ! ? I don't know of any setting which would do that).

There's probably a problem with your keyboard. Try using an external keyboard to test. If that works as expected, the problem is in the keyboard itself. You can try cleaning it to see if that helps but other than that the only fix is to replace it.

Did you happen to use System Preferences > Language & Region > Keyboard Preferences... and made any changes there?
