How do I get rid of amazon giveaway pop up

Close the window, close Safari by double-clicking the Home key and swiping up on the Safari app. Then go to Settings>Safari and Clear all Website Data & History.

They are coming from a site you have visited, so you might want to avoid going to that site.

What website are you visiting when this happens? And, BTW, this thread is about an Amazon pop-up, not a Google one, so perhaps you would do us the courtesy of explaining what iOS device you are using, what iOS it is running, under what circumstances this is coming up, and what you have done so far to fix the problem.

Hi Gail,

It’s on an iPad and I have gone to safari to clear all history and data. The only site I’ve been in is the Sun, which is a newspaper have been using it for over a year and never had a pop up come up.

Did you completely close the app? Then clear all Website Data & Hisory?

Are you certain you are not accidentally tapping on one of the billions of tricky ads that come up every time I look at any newpaper story?

I would also take a screenshot of the screen, and report it to Google's anti-Phishing page: Report a Phishing Page

The website I am visiting is yahoo news. Either with Safari or Google Chrome. I have closed the window and swiped up aand done everything ( I think ) and yet it keeps happening. I am old and may not be doing it right.

This ad data gets saved in your web cache as both a JavaScript action (which is the actual ad) and a cookie to keep the connection to the ad present even if you're not on the page it started from.

You must clear all website data after closing the browser. But, it and other annoying ads will come right back when you visit a site that allows the same ad server to use them to display ads.

The only good solution at this time is to install an ad blocker. Many are free. Open the App Store and try one. Use only one at a time. If you don't think one is working well, remove it and try another.
