A friend of mine owns these and I tried them out for a few days on my last airplane trip. I found it hard to tolerate for longer than an hour or so because of headaches. Since the illusion is created by 'mergeing' two images into one much like with 3-D glasses, there is significant eyestrain involved. The illusion of a 50' screen sounds about right, but I wouldn't say the video quality is great. Sound quality wasn't terrific either, but for video applications, its fine. My friend's assesment was about the same, but he could tolerate them longer. Maybe he got used to them or something?
Good Luck!
