Stickies staying active

I have two sticky notes on my MacBook home screen. When I three finger swipe between screens back to my home screen, it always starts with my stickies open to write on or edit. How do I stop this from happening?

To trouble shoot further you can:

Try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

Takes noticeable longer to get to the login screen as certain system caches, dynamic loader cache etc get cleared and

rebuilt. This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

Test issue in another user (or guest user) account https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204443

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

I am having a hard time articulating my issue.

First, I am on my home screen. The sticky note is not active (ie. the cursor is not blinking to edit the note), but it still appears on my home screen so that I can read the information.

I use the three finger gesture to swipe over to full screen safari.

When I swipe back to my home screen, it automatically opens the sticky note and places the blinking cursor for editing.

I don't want to edit my sticky note every time I access my home screen, I would like it to just be a posted note until I click on it to edit.
