High Sierra installation freezing

I'm trying to upgrade from 10.12.6 to 10.13.6 on a Mac mini (Late 2014) 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3. I have slow broadband access, but I don't know why it freezes when there's only about 15 secs remaining to install. I've already tried installing on safe mode.

Mac mini, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

Yes, it will start all over again if it was near the end, but if it has just started then the computer will likely restart to the OS you had installed.

  1. Press the Power button and hold it down until the computer shuts down.
  2. Wait 15 seconds.
  3. Restart the computer and after the chime hold down the Command and R keys until the Apple logo and progress bar appear.
  4. When the Utility Menu appears select Disk Utility, then press the Continue button.
  5. Select the indented (usually, Macintosh HD) volume entry from the side list.
  6. Click on the First Aid tab in the toolbar and wait for the Done button to activate. Click on it, then quit Disk Utility.
  7. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
