Disable On Board SATA controller...

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to disable the on-board SATA controller? My onboard SATA controller went 'LA-LA' so I've installed at PCI SATA controller which appears to be working just fine. I hate leaving things 'half-done' so I'd like to disable the on-board controller (or whats left of it). Ya know, like in the PC world you can tweak the BIOS, is there such a tweak for the mac world ??

I've waited to see if someone who actually knew if this was possible or advisable would reply. But since no one has I will....I don't know the answer to your question but my take on it is "if it's working don't mess with it". By attempting to totally disable the onboard controller you might cause other problems. I'd just let it sit there with nothing connected. Just my two cents......

Just for the heck of it I checked the service manual. There is of course no mention of disabling sata, but I found a diagram of the logic board showing the K2 I/O device and disk controller. It controls the internal hard drives, the optical drive, modem, ethernet, firewire, usb, bluetooth, audio circuitry and connects to the PCI and AGP busses. All I/O functions...... so I don't think you want to mess around with that.
