Does sound check write to the meta data of the songs so they play at the same volume across different applications?

I want to transfer songs to another application, but I want the songs to play at the same volume. Is there a way in iTunes to get them all the same volume and written to the meta data?

Jackson,

Yes and no. iTunes does the analysis and writes a volume value to the metadata, which you can see via Song Info, File tab. It does not actually modify the volume of the audio. On playback, iTunes can use this value to normalize the volume, but other players won't.

If you really want to unambiguously normalize the volume, you can use an audio editor or a third party tool.
