green video

Hey there,


I started having problems playing back video. Attached is an image. You can see the video is green, but the thumbnail clearly shows something different.
The only way I got this to work was by restarting my computer, but shortly after restart and playing the video it went back to the green screen. Once this happens, every video is green. Doesn't matter what it is. I'm currently up to date on my software. Running High Sierra 10.13.6

I don't see any red flags that would cause the problem but I do see some other red flags you should address ASAP. First, the computer is not being backed up! This almost certainly guarantees you will lose valuable data. At a bare minimum you should have a Time Machine backup, if you are not familiar with TM please read How to use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support


Next, is you use Google Chrome, this is a huge RAM resource hog. Your compute has 32GB of RAM which is great but Chrome is not recommended. I would recommend using Safari.


Back to your video issue. I'd start by restarting in Safe Mode per the directions in Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support


If that does not work reset the NVRAM per Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
