Lenovo USB-C Travel hub

Hi all,

I have just bought Lenovo USB-C Travel Hub ( Lenovo USB-C Travel Hub - Overview and Service Parts - de ) for both my macbook pro and macbook because my other adapter, Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter, is just not working with some of the projectors that I use at work for presentations.

This Lenovo one is just working great with my macbook pro but my macbook seems not to be able to supply enough power to it. I know that Macbook does not support Thunderbolt 3 but this adapter is a USB-C adapter. but do the USB-C port specs differ from macbook to macbook pro? Can I do something to fix this?

Or at least can you suggest me a hdmi and vga adapter for macbook 2017 that just works?
