My 1st gen Apple Watch won't turn on or charge.

I have a 1st gen Apple Watch that has been unused for about a year. I decided I'd like to start using it again so I tried to charge it yesterday. It has been charging on the original, genuine charger for over a day but all I am getting is the "charger snake" displayed on the screen. I have tried ALL the solutions shown on the support forums, short of contacting Apple. Is my device fried? Do I just need to wait longer for it to turn on? The watch gets warm but that is the only change I have been able to observe. Please help!
