More on Thunderbolt 3 Dock problems
I have the same problems with the OWC Thunderbolt 3 dock as others. Some times the dock is not seen at all, Other times it is just the display port not working. This happens at boot up after the system has been shut down for some time.
To get everything working again, I have to start in “Safe Mode” (shift key down) with all the docks ports connected. Following this I reboot (a normal boot with extensions on) This has everything working as it should.
Some times a Thunderbolt 3 port on the MBP 2017 had stopped working. In this case I turned the Mac off disconnected it from all power. Hold down control + option + shift + Power for 17 seconds, then restarted the MBP 2017. That gets me back the missing port.
I believe it is OS 10.13 where the problem is. I tried a Belkin Thunderbolt Dock and for me it was just the same. The OWC Thunderbolt 2 dock with the Mac Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter also has the same problems.
I think it is in the OS and the new APFS disk format. That is this week August 2018 I deleted over 100GB of files but the system did not give me any space back. So I deleted another 30GB and still no space has been returned to me. I have tried to use Restore within Disk Utilities still no gain there. It shows I have 2.8GB that is Purgeable.
What is going on here????
Worried
Peter!
