pros & cons of multiple apple ids

Where can I go to understand issues, pros & cons, arising from using multiple Apple iDs with multiple devices?

I have an older iPad with same Apple ID as my iMac in order to easily synch music & photos, via iTunes backup, but with new iCloud backup & sharing features added thru the years, I am unsure if this is the best approach any longer? but wonder how to make a transition to a better approach?

I have a separate Apple ID for my iPhone to segregate it from sharing and moving the same photos around, I like to get all my photos from various sources onto my iMac where they are organized, titled, reviewed and put into albums,, after which I backup to an Apple time capsule and synch the organized photo files with my iPad for mobility and display via Apple TV or whatever.

I guess I'd just like to read/understand some concepts or guidance about separate icloud accounts & separate Apple IDs etc, in order to understand if what I'm doing is a good way to do it or if there are other approaches that may be better?

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11), Intel QuadCore i5 2.8ghz

If you want to use a separate ID for the phone to keep its data separate from the iPad and iMac, one option is to try to set up family sharing between the 2 IDs. This would allow you to share apps and photos between the 2 IDs, while keeping other data, such as contacts, separate.

Family Sharing

Family Sharing - Use your own Apple ID for Family Sharing

Family Sharing -What types of content can I share?

Family Sharing - If you don‘t see your family‘s shared content

Family Sharing - purchases and payments

Family Sharing - Hide and unhide music, movies, TV shows, audiobooks, and books

Try to stick with one AppleID. Having to use two AppleIDs is creating unnecessary obstacles.

If you purchase software or music or books with different AppleIDs, you will always have to switch between your different accounts to use them. It is relatively painless to have one AppleID for the iTunes and AppStore, and a separate one for iCloud, but more would be complicated.
