Logic Pro Can't Recognize My Audio Files

So I am using the current version of Logic (10.4.1). I am doing a lot of vocal layering, recording many takes. When I am currently in Logic I can listen back to the takes. However, when I save, quit, and reopen my project, many of the files are not recognized by Logic. The more I quit and reopen, the more files Logic cannot recognize. When I try to listen to those files, there is either a loud pop or no sound at all. So far, my only way to counter this problem has been to bounce all my audio files in place before I save and quit.

In my audio settings, my "summing" is High precision 64 bit. In my recording settings, I am recording wave files in 24-bit recording. I am organizing my projects as folders and saving the audio files under that project's folder.

Is this problem stemming from my internal hardrive or my Logic settings?

Thank you very much.

No guarantee on the external audio drive.

i can make a few suggestions.

First, can you check your HD for errors? and... how much free space you you have on the drive? at minimum 10-15GB should always be left free.

First I would try deleting Logic's preferences, you will have to reset a few things.

To delete the user preferences, do the following:

  1. Quit Logic Pro X.
  2. In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder.
  3. Enter ~/Library/Preferences, then click Go.
  4. Remove the "com.apple.logic10.plist" file from the Preferences folder.
  5. If you upgraded from an earlier version of Logic Pro, also remove the "com.apple.logic.pro" file.
  6. Restart your Mac.

p.s.Note: If you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step.

Anyway you can upload one of these files to Dropbox and post a link to it?

Couple of other questions... Are you recording to an external drive? (doubt is from your post, just dbl checking)

You mentioned the bit rate, what sample rate are you using, 44.1, 48... 96kHz?

And finally... what operating system are you using Sierra or High Sierra?

File is totally hosed, I have some older PC programs that will import just about anything and even calculate new headers but these are beyond repair. And the bad news is, this has happened to others.

(I'll see if I can find a link)

Are you using the latest version of Logic and the most recent high sierra update.

I could hear a little sound in the background, behind the white noise and hiss, sounded like guitar or bass playing the rock version of Spoonful, minor third to root.
