Macmini mid 2010 and Dell S2418H/HX display colour problems

I have a mid 2010 Macmini and a Dell S2418H/HX monitor.

My partner has 'experimented' with the colour profiles as he wanted to make the screen brighter, and only succeeded in making the display black and white all the time! It is not the monitor, as I have tried it with my older Macmini and the colours are perfect.

I have tried to calibrate the colour profile without success. Can anyone help me to restore colour to the monitor?

The Displays preference panel should show a list of previous/other calibration profiles under the Color tab. Start with the previous Dell profile, and then try the Generic RGB Profile. Shouldn't be a reason to reinstall the operating system.

Check System Preferences/Accessibility/Displays to see what is set there.

Is it possible that the partner messed with some of the Accessibility settings?

Hello. I had already tried the advice in the second link, and I am not computer literate enough to follow all the details in the first link, I’m afraid!

The only thing I can think of trying is to reset to factory default and reload the OS.
