AirPort Time Capsule blinking orange light + doesn't show up on Airport utility

Trying to stop the dreaded blinking orange light, but Airport Time Capsule doesn't even show up when I open Airport Utility app. We still have wifi and in the airport utility app, the Network icon is present and status light is green. I have tried resetting Airport by unplugging power. Was going to update software and perform other resets in hopes of stopping the blinking light, but it doesn't even show up.

Ok, those two sentences seem to conflict each other. I believe you are trying to tell us that your Time Capsule's status LED is blinking amber (orange), but it appears in the AirPort Utility with a green status ... correct?

Is the Time Capsule (TC) the only router in your current network configuration? Which exact model is it? What device(s) are you using to administrate it with?

Q1: "Time Capsule's status LED is blinking amber (orange), but it appears in the AirPort Utility with a green status ... correct?"

A1: Yes - LED is blinking amber (orange). However, in Airport Utility app, the Network (globe) icon has a green status dot, but the AirPort TC icon doesn't even show up under the Network on the diagram (that is supposed to show dotted lines connecting your network to AirPort TC and resulting configuration.) Sorry for any confusion... I can't even select the AirPort icon to troubleshoot, as it doesn't show up in Utility.

Q2: Is the Time Capsule (TC) the only router in your current network configuration? Which exact model is it? What device(s) are you using to administrate it with?

A2: TC is the only router, but there is also a Cox Arris modem.

TC 2TB, Model A1409. We use 2 MacBook Pro laptops.

Got that. This is a frequent issue that will likely require a setting change on your Mac(s) and the Time Capsule.

We still have wifi and in the airport utility app, the Network icon is present and status light is green.

We are confused, since you told us just above that the Time Capsule does not appear when you check using AirPort Utility.

Perhaps you were trying to say that the Internet (globe) icon in AirPort Utility is displaying a green light?

So that we understand more about your network, can you please provide the make and model number of your modem? We do not need the serial number of the device, so please do not display that for privacy reasons. We just need the manufacturer and model number of the modem.

If you know off hand what operating system is currently installed on your Mac, that would be helpful as well.

Edit......I see that Tesserax has already replied. So, to avoid confusion, I will step back for now.

Per chance, would that Arris modem be a Motorola/Arris SB61XX-series modem? If so, we encounter a number of posts here about compatibility issues between these modems and AirPort base stations. Neither are bad products themselves, they just don't seem to "play nice" together. The most common issues are slow Internet speeds and spotty connectivity.

Please try the following, if you have not already done so:

Shut down one of the MacBook Pro laptops for now

On the one that is still active......

Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)

Open Network

Click on WiFi on the left panel to highlight it

Click Advanced at the lower right of the window

Click the TCP/IP tab at the top of the next window

Make sure that the setting for Configure IPv6 is set to Link Local Only

Click OK

Click Apply in the next window (This is an easy step to miss)

That will bring you back to the main Network window again. If there is a listing for Ethernet on the left panel, click on it to highlight and perform the exact same steps as above

Restart the Mac

Power off the Time Capsule, wait a few seconds, then power it back up again

Check to see if the Time Capsule will now appear in AirPort Utility

If this helps, perform the same steps as above on the other MacBook Pro

If things are still working OK......post back for the next set of instructions
