macbook pro 13" 2018 random freeze

I got my 2018 macbook pro 13" three weeks ago. The computer freeze at least twice. It requires hard reboot. Where should I start to look for fault? The system isn't under heavy load nor was it hot.

I, too have the MacBook Pro 13" and have also been having intermittent freezes, sometimes multiple times per day. I am on a high level Tech support at this time and they seem to know there is a problem... just not what to do about it yet. My computer is 4 weeks old and is causing me much grief ! Problem appears quite a bit during iMail which also seems to have a lot of issues.... quitting unexpectedly, not recognizing addresses, freezing during writing. But the freeze can happen anytime. I have no peripherals attached and it doesn't seem to matter if I plug in a time machine backup or not. It also can not be reproduced for tech support as one never knows when or where it will happen.

This MacBook is a mess! I've been told by Tech support to wait for an update that is being rolled out soon. I'm hoping that the problems will be fixed.... if you are thinking about buying this computer, wait a bit until this is resolved!

Sorry, I should have mentioned. The current OS is Mojave and the processor is an i5. I contacted support today and they said it is probably not a permanent issue. I made reference to the posts here. I was told to do smc and pram reset and to look if the issue occurs again. In addition, I had some issues with FaceTime today. The camera repeatively turned off during a conversation and I had to restart the application in order to be able to switch it back on.

So, unfortunately, this is STILL happening on my 2018 MBP (I posted my initial problem many weeks ago). I talked extensively with Apple's team about the issue several weeks ago and sent them system diagnoses files on several occasions. I thought that after the latest software update the problem would be fixed, but after working fine for about two weeks my computer froze again this morning while doing simple web browsing. Very disappointing in in Apple's clear lack of quality for this product.

Update on my NEW 1 month old 2018 macbook pro 13" touchbar 500GB.

Had a similar problem. It freezes coming from sleep mode, or using excel, mail, word, safari, chrome. It freezes for about 1 minutes then it snaps out of it.

Apple support asked me to do several things over a span of 2 weeks.

Reset NVRAM

Reset PRAM

Run Safe Mode

Reinstall macOS Mojave from macOS Recovery

After each step, my macbook still freezes, around 5-8 times a day. I'm now running my macbook with 2nd time re-installed Mojave. The freezing is still there.

I hope Apple comes up with a real fix. very frustrating.
