When I am on the page https://discussions.apple.com/welcome ‘Sign in’ reloads page.

Hovering over ‘Sign in’ reveals this url in the lower left, https://discussions.apple.com/login.jspa

But clicking on ‘Sign in’ redirects to the page I’m already on https://discussions.apple.com/welcome

I’m still amazed how cobbled together Apple Support communities are.

Even directly entering https://discussions.apple.com/login.jspa in to Safari 11.2 address bar I am redirected to https://discussions.apple.com/welcome.

Is this a known issue?

Edit:

I should add, I’m already signed in when I see this. Which is confusing because it made me think I might have been signed out.

The site relies on cookies to preserve your login state from page to page. It seems that in some cases this mechanism can become confused leading to a situation where you are apparently signed in but cannot post or are signed out but cannot sign in. If you have a tab with a visible sign out link using that and signing out and then in again may help, otherwise restart your browser.

These forums have been "glitchy" for a very long time and the hosts are aware of it. They've been using Jive. I simply try to ignore most of them.
