Hi,
So I recently purchase the 2018 13inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. When watching youtube video and tried swiping the scrubber bar to the left or to the right of the touch bar to adjust where the video would play, the video stops and keeps loading. but when I use the mouse to do it, the video will start playing.
Is this a glitch or what?

Regarding to my tests, there are some facts:
1. Loading process of Video:
This case Touch Bar doesn't let us to slide on the timestamp.
2. If you Tab not on | sign but a bit near (right or left):
This case, it will jump to that timestamp and will continue to play.
IF you tap and make the sliding more than 50% of the video. I mean, if you bring the sliding sign to the 60% of the video by tapping near, then SLIDING functions awakes. So that, you can start sliding BACK, instead of tapping near.
3. If you want your slider work without any problem with Youtube Video, then, Only the solution for now is:
Wait until video fully load, then play with the slider. I believe Apple will handle with this bug asap.

If the touch bar is not there anymore:
On Safari for youtube specifically, I did:
Safari > View > "Customize Touch Bar" > and then dragged the "Focus Smart Search Field" onto the touch bar.
If you dont see the "Focus Smart Search Field" you may have to do this while watching a video.
But, if you are refering to the fact that the video just sits there buffering, I'm having the same problem. The only way I found around this is having to use the mouse to click on the point that the bar is stuck on in the video so that it can resume playing.

Make an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar for service. If you need to find an Apple Store - Find a Store - Apple. If you did not purchase it from Apple then you will need to look to the vendor for service or How to find your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) or Distributor (AAD).
It would seem to be some kind of glitch between youtube video player and the way it handles downloading seeking.. very annoying for sure, and I hope Apple can do something about it, as it's a function of safari, I'm not sure google are going to be very inclined to do anything to help.

I have the exact same problem, and the new safari update 12.0 did nothing to fix this. Hoping for a hot fix or that maybe Mojave will fix this issue, really annoying.
Mojave didn't fix it either, has anyone found a fix for this issue?
I've just updated my Mac to Mojave too, but not working either.
