Numbers files not updating over iCloud

I have a number of numbers documents that I have stored in iCloud so I can modify them from my laptop or phone, however, a few of them are stuck with the little cloud next to them like they are updating, but they never finish and thus I can only open the latest version that was modified on one device or the other, the changes do not transfer over. I have gone through all the things to check and everything is set up correctly still. I have more than enough space in my iCloud Drive. The only thing I can think of is that while I was traveling and off WiFi and my phone was in airplane mode, this threw the syncing process off somehow. I have rebooted both laptop and phone as well as Numbers on each device, but nothing seems to reset this. I even tried new files on my laptop and phone and saving them to my numbers folder on iCloud Drive, but they never sync over iCloud either. Any other suggestions??? Thanks!
