13" MacBook Pro early 2011 clamshell mode does not work with eGPU

Hi,

Wanted to ask for advice in the above-mentioned setup.

I am currently using a 13" MacBook Pro Early 2011 with an external Akitio Node thunderbolt 3 eGPU enclosure with an RX580.

I have been trying to run only on the external display. However, whenever I tried changing my MacBook Pro to clamshell mode, I am still able to detect my internal display.

I tried to disable the internal display but this resulted in my external display showing a black frame with a movable mouse cursor.

Is there anyway I can work around this to get it to run on only the external display as it would be more efficient?

Thanks in advance.
