We have 4 Apple TVs in the house, 2 are 4K. All are up to date on software.
The 2 non-4K units are able to control connected devices through their HDMI connection just fine. The 2 4K units were doing this as well, until the last software update. They stopped controlling our Samsung AntNet+ TVs.
We've checked all the settings on all devices.
any ideas?

That is dependent on CEC implementation on the TV, if there is an issue consult your manual and check if the TV itself has an update.
Yep, checked software update on TVs too. No update applied recently or needed. Good advice though. Still stumped.
Try toggling off/on CEC via Apple TV settings and also on TV
Another good idea but did do that as well. 🙂
Then I would suggest contacting the manufacturer
