I am getting a Mac book air. I need to get a Microsoft Office package. To use word for school. I don’t want to pay every month of every year. Is there a package I can just get and be done all at once ?

There are a number of packages for students when it comes to Microsoft Office. Also, depending on the school, if a college or university, many have access to Office 365 for reduced prices or free, depending on the institution. You can go to the Microsoft Office website to see the choices. There is a Home and Student version that is a one time cost, or if you wish to spend the funds, there is a Professional version you can get for a one time cost as well.

As mentioned by ChrisJ4203, the package you're mentioning is a one-time purchase and contains Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote. However, take note that major upgrades to these Office applications are not included and are a separate purchase if you wish to get them.

I believe that Microsoft also has a program for those schools that choose to participate that allows students to get Office 2016 for Mac Home and Student for free. Failing that, Microsoft also offers a student (and veterans) discount program for Office too.
