"Show profiles for this display only" in System Preferences malfunctioning?

Hi,

Up to now I have been calibrating the Thunderbolt display attached to my MacBook Pro using basICColor display and an X-rite i1 Display Pro. Because I switch between profiles for themonitor a lot and have profiles for other devices as well, I find it convenient in System Preferences | Displays to limit the list of profiles that I can choose to those for this display. That's an option in the Color tab of the Thunderbolt Display window.

The highlighted profile was created by DisplayCAL, which I have just begun to use. "Thunderbolt Display" is the factory profile, and the ones above it were created by basICColor display. The highlight denotes the current profile.

My problem: There are more profiles that I created with DisplayCAL, but they do not appear until I uncheck "Show profiles for this display only".

I have used all of the profiles that do not appear in the limited list (the first above). It is DisplayCAL that is creating the display name character string, so it would be good not to have to manually rename the file.

Does anybody know what determines whether a profile is considered to be for a display? Is there something in the profile itself, or is it just the name?

MacBook Pro, macOS Sierra (10.12.6), (late-2011) 16 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD
