Assuming that you have installed iTunes onto your computer, and added music to your iTunes Library... (if not, you had best mention it):
Using the screenshots below:
- Connect your iPod to the computer and wait for iTunes to see it
- Once it appears in iTunes, click on the icon as indicated in the screenshot below:

- The screen will show the Summary pane.
- If the box Sync only ticked songs and videos, shown below (ringed in orange) is ticked, then songs must be ticked in the Library in order to be put on the iPod. An un-ticked song will not be added to your iPod. The song ticks are in the Music Library, Songs view

Click on the Music (1.) heading as shown below. Make sure you click on the correct one, as shown.

- Put a tick in the box named Sync Music (2.)
- Tick either (3.):
- Entire music library, in which case, all ticked songs will be added to your iPod (as discussed previously)
- Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres, in which case section 4 appears
- If you chose to sync selected playlists, artists, albums and genres, select the items you want using section 4.
- Click Sync in the bottom right of the iTunes window (not shown in screenshot)
- Once the Sync has completed (as indicated in the top panel of iTunes), click on the eject (safely disconnect) icon to eject the iPod. The eject icon will replace the spinning arrows that you can see above the battery icon in the shot above, and the icon itself in the second screenshot
