Will erasing my childs device also erase all info I have started entering

Son no longer using iphone 6 I purchased for him and during reset for my exclusive use found restriction code enabled. Will erasing child’s account also erase all I have now entered?

Yes. The only way to bypass the restrictions passcode is to reset that iphone to factory settings, and, at the end, set it up as new.

But this procedure will erase all iPhone's content (and you can't restore your data from a previously made backup, because that restrictions passcode comes back again).

Can't you ask your son that restrictions passcode?

Regards

Giulio

Thank you ProustGiulio- your last question would be easiest and most logical in a positive world. Unfortunate of this situation that step-mom set up restriction to correlate with her sons. I respect the rules (only wish I had been informed prior & included in a decision involving property I own). And, no, she can’t recall the passcode..good news I am able to access enough for my use & what I can’t likely would only be trouble anyways! ;)

Lawrence Finch- Reply is much appreciated and was able to update info and achieve enough access for my use. Restriction set up by stepmom to conform with rules, and I respect the situation, only would have been proper to inform and include me in this info as it is actually my property.

My lesson learned & to share: there is A LOT of safety features on iphones, as I’m learning (prior Android), so adult purchasing for teen— set up yourself first! & keep passcodes/words etc in a secure but retrievable setting. :)

Mr. Finch,

Again, your time & consideration providing help is most appreciated.

My situation did not require the advanced app suggested (polite adult communication & reasoning finally prevailed...there’s hope for humankind yet!! ;)) but it is good knowing it IS possible if step 1 continued to be unsuccessful.

Raising teenagers brings out best, worst & everything in between, and when technology is involved - no dull moments & staying “one step ahead” has become trying to not fall 2 decades behind. So, now, if I can’t keep battery from running out after 90 minutes I’m dusting off my old flip phone!!

Best to you,

Susan

Yes, potentially. The only option is to restore the phone to New, as you can't restore a backup that contains the Restrictions passcode (If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support)

However, if you go to Settings, tap on your name at the top then iCloud, any items set to sync to iCloud (switch ON) will be restored after you reconnect to iCloud after restoring.
