Since a few days ago my watch has turned to black mode. The screen is black but the watch is still registering actions, i e the steps I walk, the time I stand up and the minutes I excercise. These data can be read on my iPhone.

You may accidentally have VoiceOver and Screen Curtain activated. Go to the Watch app on your iPhone, My Watch tab > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver > on the VoiceOver screen: turn off VoiceOver and Screen Curtain. If this doesn't resolve your issue, try to restart your Watch if you haven't already. Just press and hold the side button and Digital Crown together until you see the Apple logo.
