How to connect to unsecured network

If it's a captive portal network, one that requires you log in through a web page, select the WiFi network in Settings>WiFi then open a new tab in Safari. Generally, it will switch to the page for you to put in whatever log in information the hotel gave you.

Most hotels have a tech support phone number for their Wi-Fi service. That's a better route than hotel staff, who don't know much about it.
