Sluggish late 2011mbp had Etrecheck

Hi everyone,

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011)

2.8 GHz Intel Core i7

16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB

My late 2011mbp has been sluggish for the past 2 years now I reckon. I took the liberty of exchanging into a new battery as the old one was on its last leg. Same thing for the RAM which I upgraded to 16 gigs ram 1333mhz ddr3.

In belief that perhaps making a partition and moving all files of importance (movies, photos, music) to a separate place proved to be a mistake. The sluggishness of the computer persists.

Having done virus scan, battery exchange, ram exchange, partition. All while running macOS Sierra 10.12.6, I simply don't know what to do at this point.

I have attached below my report from Etrecheck in hope that some tech savvy person could assist me.

With sluggish, I mean it takes a very long time for the cpu to respond, beach ball being ever present as well.

Apart from that, the computer runs (to my knowledge) as should.

Thank you for taking the time to help me.

You are running out of hard drive space. Get rid of old files or move data to an external drive.

You can upgrade to an SSD which will be much faster than your rotational drive.

You are running CleanMyMac which can cause issues. Uninstall CleanMyMac following its uninstall instructions.

Top priority should be to attempt to make a Backup using Time Machine or a more complex system your choice, on a stand-alone External drive. This will give you slightly more options going forward.

You may need to replace your internal drive. An SSD is highly recommended. Best success is by getting a drive AND an External enclosure or adapter, and building a New MacOS with the new drive in the External enclosure.

PS:

To Open an app takes about 25-30 seconds. Watching video content online is often kept in a state of 'buffering'.

It's like the computer has gone from a clean state to a somewhat ******** state if one can say so.

The built quality of the machine is excellent, but its sad to see how its gone downhill. Albeit, I know this is by now an old machine.
