airdrop stops after a few seconds

Hi,

I was transferring a 3-minute video to my Mac Pro from my iPhone 7 via Airdrop. It transfers quickly for a second or two, then appears to just suddenly stop loading for no apparent reason. The iPhone says it was sent but the video is incomplete. i watched the Airdrop progress in in Finder and it seems to stop about 3/4 of the way through. Any ideas? Thanks.

Mac Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

Ok, I think I understand it. It appears that movie files sent from iPhone undergo a conversion process which could take a long time depending on the length of the video (I guess to make it viewable in Quicktime). There is no way to circumvent it. All the movies I thought were stuck earlier appeared in my Downloads folder after the process finished. I don't think Apple explained this in any of their Airdrop support pages, so what I thought was a transfer issue is really a just a time-consuming operation on the movie file after it reaches the Mac Pro. Interesting.

Good computing J Harvey !

Airdrop is certainly not a perfect science—a relatively new feature at that.

Thanks I will look at those links but I sort of doubt they will tell me anything I don't know. However I'm just now digging into the problem. Don't seem to have any problems with photos. I did a firmware upgrade on my old 2009 Mac Pro and added a card that handles the Handoff/Continuity, as well as a bluetooth antenna extender so if I come up with a solution I will post back. Thanks!
