My wife and I have numerous devices, all on the same Apple ID. We just added a new iPhone for her, also on the same Apple ID. Will we be able to see the other's location on each other's phones?
It's better to set up her own Apple ID. It's very easy.

So, the answer is no... two phones cannot see the location of each other if they share the same Apple ID, correct?
And from what I could understand, if my wife has a second ID, we will have a shared photo 'album' but she might not have access to my existing photos.
Use a separate Apple ID. They are free.
Using family share you can see each other's photos and share music.
