MacBook Pro Cursor jumps backward during typing

I am using a MacBook Pro with MacOS Sierra 10.13.6.

My cursor jumps backward and types over existing writing or even jumps back and erases sentences already typed.

It used to happen every now and then but it is getting worse and more recurrent.

1. I have tried typing with no mouse active or disconnected, also removing the power cable, also wearing knit globes in case my hand's electricity causes static with the aluminum body? tried typing by only carefully touching the keys and gets better but does not avoid the issue from happening sometimes. It seems like static and electricity or insulation design issues?

This did not happen during the initial 1.5 years after I bought the Mac. It seems that either the IOS updates led up to it or something is wrong with the MAC design. I see there are many postings on the website on this same issue but none of the recommendations to fix have worked for me. Frustrating.

Any recommendations or links as to how to fix and diagnose this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks

MacBook Pro, iOS 8.1.3, MAC OS Yosemite, Airport Capsule 2T

I had this problem with the cursor jumping back in the text I am typing from the very beginning, when the MacBook was new and out of the box. I assumed it was my fault for a while and tried lots of different things and then took it to someone who said I must be touching the track pad without knowing it, etc. However, I am not touching the track pad. I am touch typing the way I always have, on all of my previous MacBooks. This (very expensive) devise is making it very, very hard for me to get any work done. I am furious. If anyone has any ideas, please advise.

I have experienced the same. I was advised to take MacBook to Apple and check if the battery was leaking. I did and they found nothing wrong. The Apple technician said it was a software problem and not hardware issues after testing the computer. Unfortunately, he checked computer typing while I was there in front of me but the cursor did not jump backwards to him! it does not happen all the time. I left Apple and my issue is still unresolved. I never had this problem when it was new with the earlier IOS but started having more problems through the various updates and now I use Sierra. I also experience the same issue when typing with my iPhone 6S, it does not happen all the time but it is happening after new IOS updates.

Someone recommended following some troubleshooting steps:

I have not tried any of it yet and I do not know if it works.

Since the issue happens using iPhone or MacBook, at least to me, I have also wondered if it is related to wifi interference and people hand static electricity issues?

I'm having the same problem. But it's not happening right now. It looks like it happens when I type in Word and in Gmail. I turned off the trackpad touch response (it's only set up to response when I click) and it's still happening in Word and Gmail, which makes me think it's a software issue. It was happening in High Sierra so I upgraded to Mojavey, to see if that'd solve it, and it didn't. And never mind about what I said only happening in certain applications. It was working fine here, and now it jumped back, but not as often. It makes my computer unusable.
