A grey icon with a white dot in it has appeared on the iPad screen. Touching the dot activates a subscreen with six other functions. How do I deactivate this icon?

A grey icon with a white dot in it has appeared on my iPad's screen. If I touch the dot, it opens a subscreen, showing Six other icons: home, control center, device, notifications, etc. How do I deactivate this feature?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Settings>General>Accessibility>Assistive Touch .... disable it.
