See this article iCloud: Use iCloud Drive on iCloud.com

Organize files in folders

You can organize files and folders in iCloud Drive. Your changes appear on all your devices set up to use iCloud Drive.

  • Create a folder: Click the New Folder button User uploaded file in the iCloud Drive toolbar. To add a folder inside an existing folder, double-click the existing folder before clicking the New Folder button User uploaded file.
  • Put an item in a folder: Drag it to the folder icon. You can also select several items, then drag one of the items to the folder icon. All selected items move to the folder.
  • Put an item in an enclosing folder: Drag it to the small folder icon at the bottom of the iCloud Drive window. If you don’t see small icons at the bottom of the window, make the window taller. You can also select several items, then drag one of the items to the small folder icon at the bottom of the iCloud Drive window. All selected items move to the folder.

In iCloud.com when an untitled folder is created , drag and drop the sociology .pdf file in it ( just an example ) and click on download icon in www.icloud.com , when you open finder and under favourites - see download folder the .pdf folder will be found , or you can save in iCloud drive also .

In the title question - moving document folder out of iCloud . if many documents were saved in folder documents and desktops and only " one specified document is to be removed " then why to turn off / uncheck the box of desktops and documents .

What op asked is about removal of a single folder and not all folders .

Hi !

if i click on system preferences > iCloud > iCloud Drive > options and uncheck the box of desktops and documents a pop up window appears .And click on turn off all the documents that were created with Microsoft office will be removed from desktops and documents folder but still available in iCloud Drive , I had few folders created so by this process all of them will be removed , and if the user wants to remove only one folder than in that scenario the method will not work , he has to follow a different method as I tried to answer in my previous post , and also what op asked about a single folder .

Of course the op can drag and drop the the folder from recents folder or by fortune he has archived the folders in home folder previously .😝
