Can I delete a conversation in facebook messenger app

Thanks. I must agree however I accidently did find that in messenger when you select a contact in the contact list a double tap opens a message window to delete the conversation and the contact is also deleted.
I do not have a facebook account. i am using the new messeger app that facebook now provides.
Replies show up on the receivers facebook page however if they are not using the new messenger app.
I use anapple ipad.
