Can the iPod classic be synced to the latest version of iTunes as I am not able to?

Yes it can. What happens when you try? Does the device register in iTunes when connected to USB?

See iOS device not showing in iTunes for Windows. Despite the title it should help with a classic too.

I have the same problem. Device driver will not install correctly. Bought the iPod used. Not working at all with Windows 7. I think it's a problem with the USB ports USB 3 vs. USB?
