This may be the option you want:

I am assuming the choices that appear in parentheses are (Journaled) and (Journaled, Encrypted). I think the one you want to choose is indicated above.

If you want to use that device for Time Machine backups, do not choose APFS. Time Machine requires one of the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) formats.
