Hello tsouthwood2602,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that you are hearing unexpected noises from your MacBook Air. It's important that your MacBook Air work as expected and you've come to the right place for a resolution.

I would like to start by having you reset the SMC on your MacBook Air to help isolate possible power related issues. The following support article will walk you through how to do so:

How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

If the sounds persists, the following questions could be helpful to answer:
  1. Do you hear the noises after a certain action (lifting the device, connecting it to a charger, opening the lid) or when using a specific app?
  2. Does the MacBook Air have any accidental damage or previous contact with liquid?

Cheers!
