ipod nano 6th generation non-responsive

I was able to use my nano after it sitting around for almost 2 years. I later connected to my laptop and synced it, but now the screen isn't responsive. It's not exactly frozen, as the select (square perimeter around each app) does move around but I can't change the screen or select anything. I've forced quit several times, but it just brings me back to the same screen. Is there anything else to try? Yes, I've ejected it before disconnecting.

PS: I also tried to make a genius bar appt but the nano doesn't show up in my device list.
