How do I normalize a track in garage band 10 (pre-export). Is this a feature the apple guys gate keep to make you pay for logic? It seems like low input volume is a very common problem yet apple doesn't appear to want to provide the easy fix. Hopefully I am just overlooking the feature. Can anyone help?

the best solution is of course not to have Low Input Volume. starting out with a poor recording means you're just manipulating a poor recording.
that said, with a little work you should be able to use some combination of the Gain, Limiter, and/or Compressor plug-ins to mimic the function of Normalizing a track (using the Gain pug-in itself could work, but adding a Limiter could give a little more oomph).
just remember you are boosting all of the recording, that includes bringing up the Noise Floor as you push up the signal
