I need to know if I can purchase an older version of

InDesign for my MacBook with Yosemite OS X 10.10.5

here from Adobe?

What can I do?

Getting InDesign downloaded and running on this machine

I just realized you may be able to use the current suite. Or, that is, get an older version of CC that will run under Yosemite.

When you purchase CC, you first installer the Creative Cloud manager. Launch that, and in the preferences, there's an option to be able to view older versions.

Once you turn that on, you can choose older CC installations.

While it is true Adobe will not directly sell CS6 anymore, you can see it's still available through CC. It's still monthly, but it's there. Of those, I use Encore CS6 since it's the last version of the DVD/Blu-ray disk authoring software they released.

Anyway, you do have options that will run in Yosemite. Check with Adobe to be sure which is recommended for that version of OS X. But since Yosemite was released in 2014, I would think any version from the original CC to possibly CC (2017) would run. I would suggest using the newest one you can for the best compatibility with your clients and features.

Actually, you specifically stated (twice) you wanted an older version:

Adobe states the CC suite is supported only back as far as El Capitan. You'll need to upgrade your Mac's OS to at least El Capitan. If it's too old for that, you'll first need a new Mac.

Sorry... I did mean lease monthly. I was afraid I would have to up grade or get newer computer.

As a freelance graphic designer and full time professional graphic designer off and on for 20+ Year’s, it’s frustrating financially to have to make that jump just to have InDesign and Photoshop on my personal computer. Undortunately will be awhile before can purchase another Macintosh. Thanks for your help!!

Adobe no longer sells the older boxed or download versions of anything. It's the CC subscription suite or nothing. The best you could do to avoid the monthly subscription model is to find a full retail version of CS6. An upgrade copy will do you no good since it will not activate without a qualifying, earlier version serial number.

Any such copy of CS6 you do find will not be cheap. Almost anyplace you look that has it is an illegal cracked copy. I saw many of those on eBay, such as $449 for a download only of the CS6 Master Collection. Yeah, right. Software that cost around $1,800 new for $449. There were a few full genuine CS6 packages, but were around a $1,000, and came from the U.K. International versions were never intended to be sold or used in the U.S.

There's one genuine full copy of InDesign CS6 for $500. The buyer is correctly included a transfer of ownership form so the serial number can be legally passed to you. But it's still buyer beware at even an almost 100% approval rating. Once of the very few negatives given was the person bought what was said to be a full version of Windows 7 Ultimate, but got an upgrade package. In fact, all three of the negatives in the past 12 months were the same complaint. Otherwise, the seller has 1,219 good transactions.
